Follow-up to rummage sale

Community. It is one of the most amazing things about living in this neighbourhood and being part of Fern Ave. Public School. There are so many folks who contributed to the success of this past weekend's rummage sale/fundraiser at the school. I would like to start out with special thank-you to Jo Somers, Crystal Rasa, Mary Tremain and Nancy Marini, who were not only a pleasure to work with, but really helped bring the event together and make it a fun day. Aside from raising over $3,000 which will go towards next year's programs, this event also allowed folks an opportunity to clean out their closets. Along the way we also helped out several charitable organizations, donated to an additional fundraiser for an orphanage overseas and made a new refugee family in the neighbourhood very happy. School Council funding for 2008/09

Each year parents, teachers and staff participate in fundraising activities to support and enhance our children’s experience at Fern. The money raised during a school year is spent on activities for the following year. This means that the money we raise this year (2007/2008) will be spent in the 2008/2009 school year. We need your help to figure out how best to use the funds we have raised. Click here for more details. The School Council executive would like you to know about the process for requesting and approving funding. Music Monday

Music Monday was launched in May 2005 to celebrate the importance of music in our society and to demonstrate the power that music has to unite us and how, by working together in harmony, we can make something truly beautiful. There will be 1,450 schools participating in outdoor concerts events nationwide. To unite the country in song, "Our Song" will be simultaneously sung/played at 1pm Toronto time. CBC Radio will also profile Music Monday events across Canada including TDSB school performances at Queens Park. This year, Music Monday festivities at Fern will be held on Monday, May 5th at 1pm in the Junior Yard. (Rain location: Cafeteria)
